The W.K. Kellogg Foundation seeks to engage with the Battle Creek community as a partner. We do this through Yes we can!, an effort to help low-income children and families to succeed academically and to achieve financial health and self-sufficiency.
Yes we can! (know as Sí Podemos! by our Latino communities) is about strengthening relationships among community partners—people like parents, students, educators, religious leaders, and leaders of the other institutions and organizations that serve the Battle Creek community. Partners in Yes we can! contribute time, services, expertise, and other resources to help create the social, economic, and educational outcomes sought by community members.
Because it is based on partnership, Yes we can! is open and inclusive of all who want to participate. It builds on the strengths that are already present within the community and is characterized by three high-level goals:
-
Listening to and working with young people to help them create brighter futures for themselves.
-
Empowering adults with opportunities and skills to provide for themselves and their families.
-
Engaging city, regional, and statewide organizations and institutions in collaborations to systemically address educational and economic disparities.

While all Battle Creek organizations are encouraged to partner with each other and residents in working toward Yes we can! goals, the organizations below have received grants from the Kellogg Foundation for this work. Use our Partners Directory to contact them.
